3 New Food Storage Centres in the Offing

April 7: Preparations are underway to set up food storage centres in Sunsari, Parsa and Kapilvastu. Each of the three storage centres will have a capacity to store up to 55,000 metric tons of food grains.

Nepal Warehousing Company will be establishing one food storage and distribution centre each at the three places within the next two years.

The establishment of the storage centers will put an end to the practice of farmers selling their products in cheap price in fear of their grains being destroyed. Farmers have been so far selling their harvest at cheap price and then buying them again at expensive rate when they need food.

The setting up of the storage has been possible due to the collaboration of the company with India’s National Collateral Management Company during the recently held Nepal Investment Summit 2019.
