Central Bank to Manage Rs 145 Billion Internal Loan for Government

August 6: Nepal Rastra Bank will manage internal loan of Rs 145 billion for the government of Nepal in the current fiscal year.

The government is seeking internal loan from the central bank to meet the requirement of its annual budget. NRB will collect the amount by mid-July next year by issuing treasury bill, development credit bonds, citizens saving bond and foreign employment saving bond.

The central bank will collect Rs 32.54 billion in the first three months of the current fiscal year using the tools. In the second trimester, NRB aims to collect Rs 46.61 billion. Likewise, the central bank will collect Rs 45.88 billion and Rs 19.96 billion in the third and fourth trimesters.

The central bank’s national loan management department will issue a treasury bill to collect Rs 66 billion in the current fiscal year. This amount is 45.51 percent of the total target. Likewise, NRB will issue development credit bonds worth Rs 72 billion for a period of 5 to 15 years. It is projected to collect Rs 6 billion by issuing a five-year citizens saving bond and Rs 1 billion from a five-year foreign employment saving bond.

Nepal Rastra Bank Act 2058 and Public Debt Act 2059 have entrusted the NRB to collect internal loan for the government of Nepal.
