Bhatta Elected NRNA President

October 18: Bhaban Bhatta has been elected as the President of Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRN). Bhatta defeated his contestant Jamuna Ghale by a big margin in the election held during the 8th NRNA International General Assembly on Monday, October 16, to lead the association.

NRNA’s election committee informed that Bhatta received 1197 votes while Ghale received 584 votes.

Kumar Prasad Panta and Kul Acharya were elected as vice presidents in the open category while Shapila Rajbhandari was elected vice president in the women’s category. Likewise, Dr Badri KC was elected general secretary while Dambar Bahadur Chhetri and Janaki Gurung won the posts of secretary. Hikmat Bahadur Thapa is the new treasurer of NRNA and Somnath Sapkota is the deputy treasurer.

Meanwhile, Gauri Joshi was elected as the coordinator for American region, Kiran Bikram Thapa as the coordinator of Asia Pacific Region and Shiva Baruwal as the coordinator of Europe.

After winning the election, Bhatta said that he would work in collaboration with all sides to take NRNA to further height. Bhatta has served as a treasurer of NRNA for one term and as vice president for two terms.
