New Model of Mahindra Scorpio Hits the Roads

May 18: Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, a subsidiary of Mahindra Group, has launched the new avatar of its iconic SUV – Scorpio. The new model of Scorpio comes with higher power and torque, new 5-speed transmission, enhanced performance, imposing styling and luxurious comfort to travel through any roads, the company said in a statement. The new model will be available in four variants, namely S4, S5 (4WD), S7 and S11 (4WD)

Sanjay Jadhav, vice president of International Operations (South Asia) at M&M Ltd said, "The Scorpio has pushed the boundaries for Mahindra and created new benchmarks for others ever since its launch in Nepal. To see Scorpio become the No 1 SUV of Nepal is a matter of pride. Today as we launch the new Scorpio, we have further enhanced its on-road presence while retaining its core DNA of power, thrill and adventure. I firmly believe that the consumers will find the new Scorpio a perfect companion for their thrilling and adventurous journeys."

According to Cabinet Shrestha, MD of Agni Group, Mahindra Scorpio has been a symbolic SUV on the roads of Nepal.

"Over the last 15 years, it has dominated the segment delivering unparalleled experience to our customers. With the new refresh, we are confident to take a leap in conquering all the roads or no roads of Nepal, with thrilling drive experience and luxurious comfort. Tourism is one of the driving industry for Nepal’s economy and Mahindra Scorpio has been the most preferred SUV over the years, for all the travellers due to its off-road capability.  The new Scorpio will further enhance the experience of customers touring across Nepal, making a memorable journey.”

The statement says that the new Scorpio is powered by the mighty mHawk engine which has been enhanced to deliver higher power of 120 bhp and more torque of 280 Nm. Its enhanced low-end torque ensures a pleasurable city drive and abundant mid-range torque delivers a pleasurable highway drive.

According to the company, the all-new easy shift 5-speed transmission optimizes performance, allowing the SUV to cruise on highways and saves fuel.

"Its refinement in NVH ensures a quieter cabin. The vehicle’s new and more imposing exteriors add a whole new dimension, while faux leather interiors give it a more stylish and premium feel. Its new latest generation braking system with 9.1 Bosch ABS system offers enhanced high-speed braking and improved brake feel," the statement further reads.

The new Scorpio comes with enhanced technology features like the new reverse parking camera with dynamic assist, new 1-touch lane change indicator and new auto window roll-up. It comes loaded with many advanced technology features like projector headlamps with static bending technology, 6-inch touch-screen infotainment with GPS, fully automatic temperature control, etc.

According to the company, the new model is high on safety features with dual front airbags, anti-lock braking system (ABS), collapsible steering column and side intrusion beams, panic brake indication, engine immobilizer, etc. It will be available in multiple seating configurations allowing owners to choose from 7, 8 and 9-seater options to match their needs.
