Minister Adhikari pledges to support Nepal Airlines

July 2:  Nepal Airlines Cooperation celebrated its 60th anniversary on Sunday, July 1. Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Rabindra Adhikari pledged to support the state carrier during the anniversary celebration.

Adhikari while delivering his speech informed that Nepal Airlines Cooperation is a commercial organization and it needs to compete will other international airlines. The minister said that the government is always positive to add aircraft to the fleet of NAC, provided that the airline adopts competitive business strategy.

According to Adhikari strategic and management partner is very essential for the improvement of the NAC.  

Dhan Bahadur Budha, state minister for tourism, requested NAC to expand its destination and compete with both national and international level airlines before buying additional aircraft. He informed that NAC should also focus on extending its services to rural areas of the country.

Saugat Ratna Kansakar, managing director of NAC, informed that the airlines will start to expand its market at the international level with the arrival of new aircraft.

NAC's Director Janak Raj Kalakheti and Spokesperson Rabindra Shrestha informed that the road ahead is filled with opportunities and challenges and the airline has to overcome all odds.

Similarly, Subash Dangi, chairman of trade union of NAC informed that the airline is in profit and the government should address the problems it has been facing due to the past losses faced by the airline.

Other international airlines which started their operation together with NAC have already achieved milestone and are currently operating their flights across the world with numerous aircraft but we hardly have our own 13 aircraft, Dangi added.
