Sub-standard Materials used in Sikta Project: Report

October 14: A probe committee has found carelessness on part of the contractor during the construction of the main canal of Sikta Irrigation Project, one of the national pride projects.
The government had formed the committee after for investigation after the canal was damaged during testing phase. The committee was formed under the leadership of joint-secretary at the Ministry of Irrigation, Sushil Chandra Tiwari.
The project was constructed with an investment of Rs 12 billion. A member of the committee informed New Business Age that the construction company had compromised on the quality of materials used during construction. 
“There was a massive use of low-quality materials in the project,” the member said requesting anonymity.
