Cyclone Phethai Causes Chilly Day

December 17: Cloudy skies, light rain and snowfall at a few places across the country have been forecast for today (Monday, December 17) due to the impact of cyclone Phethai which originated from the Bay of Bengal. 

Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) reported that the Meteorological Forecasting Division has predicted light rain in a few places of eastern and central Nepal and at one or two places of the western hills on Monday. Likewise, there are chances of light to moderate snowfall in a few places of the mountainous region of eastern and central Nepal.

Temperature in several parts of the country including the Kathmandu Valley dipped as the sky became cloudy. The minimum temperature of the Valley was recorded at 2.5 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature was 20 degrees Celsius, according to the state-run news agency. 
Temperature in the country including in the Valley is continuously falling for the past few days. The Valley's minimum temperature was measured at 3 degrees Celsius on Sunday and a week ago it was 5-6 degrees Celsius. Jumla's temperature has also dropped to minus as it measured the lowest -6 degrees Celsius on Monday.
