1.5 Billion Rupees Increment in RTDF
The Rural Telecom Development Fund (RTDF) received a total of Rs. 1.5 billion rupees during the current fiscal year 2070/71. Last year, the RTDF had received Rs.1.49 billion from telecom service providers, Purshottam Khanal, Director of Nepal Telecom Authority said. With this, the fund’s reserve money has reached Rs 7 billion.
 
According to rules and regulations Nepal Telecom Corporation (Rural Telecom Development Fund) (2068), the Telecom and the internet facility bearers must pay 2 percent of their income to the fund at the end of every fiscal year. The Telecom and the internet service bearers paid the money to the Corporation accordingly.
 
Ncell has submitted the highest amount of money to the fund. It has submitted 2% of its income which is Rs 77.52 million. Similarly, Nepal Telecom became the second and Smart Telecom third in the Line. Nepal Satellite contributed the least, Rs 3.1 million to the fund. 
 
Though all telecom companies haves submitted the amount in correct time this year, 13 ISP companies are still to submit their contribution. Companies that fail to submit their contribution within the time frame are slapped with an additional 25 percent fine of the amount. If the amount is not submitted within the six months after completion of the fiscal year then such company has to pay additional 50% of the amount as fine and they have to submit double amount if the amount is not paid within nine months of fiscal year completion.
