The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index surged by 17.80 points on Tuesday, December 3, closing at 2,775.85 points, following a gain of 19.97 points on Monday after dropping by 9.99 points on Sunday.
The index declined by 68.35 points last week, reversing the previous week's gain of 68.60 points.
Despite the rise in index, trading activity saw a decline, with the daily turnover remaining just over Rs 8.52 billion, compared to Rs 10.54 billion on the previous day.
Over 18 million shares were traded through 88,775 transactions during the session.
The Sensitive and Sensitive Float indices declined by 0.12 percent and 0.17 percent, respectively, while the Float Index rose by 0.20 percent.
Dibyashwori Hydropower Ltd. (DHPL) and Ingwa Hydropower Limited (IHL) emerged as the top gainers, hitting the upper circuit limit.
Meanwhile, three companies—Khanikhola Hydropower Co. Ltd. (KKHC), Joshi Hydropower Development Company Ltd. (JOSHI), and Super Madi Hydropower Limited (SMHL)—followed closely, each gaining 9.99 percent.
In contrast, Upper Syange Hydropower Limited (USHL) experienced the largest drop of 9.51 percent.
Ngadi Group Power Limited (NGPL) led the turnover list, followed by Janaki Finance Company Limited (JFL) and Best Finance Company Limited (BFC).
Of the 13 NEPSE sub-indices, seven closed in the green. The Trading Index showed the highest gain of 5.96 percent, while the Hotels and Tourism Index recorded the largest drop of 1.71 percent.
