Medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai, wanted for his role in the violent protest in Tinkune, Kathmandu, on March 28, has landed in the police net. He was on the run since the protest, which claimed two lives.
After initially denying reports of Prasai’s arrest in Assam, India, the Nepal Police on Friday confirmed that he was apprehended in Jhapa. Central Police Spokesperson, Deputy Inspector General Dinesh Kumar Acharya, said Prasai is being brought to Kathmandu for investigation.
In a press release, DIG Acharya also confirmed the arrest of Prasai’s associate, Dipak Khadka.
According to the police, both Prasai and Khadka have been charged with crimes against the state and organized crime for their involvement in the pro-monarchist demonstrations in Tinkune on March 28.— RSS
